Fatima is the founder and Managing Director of 27four Investment Managers, a pioneering South African multi-manager focused on the provision of innovative product solutions for retirement funds and individual investors. Fatima is also the majority shareholder and chairperson of JSE stockbroking firm Legae Securities.
She has over 18 years’ experience in financial markets and holds a Master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from Wits University. Her areas of expertise include asset allocation and portfolio construction. Fatima has received numerous accolades, including the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the Emerging Category.
Fatima has over the years received numerous accolades both domestically and internationally including the Ernest & Young World Entrepreneur Southern Africa Emerging Category award. Fatima is also an active member of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals (ABSIP) and is a director of the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA).
Graduated with distinction from Wits University in 1994; 1995 - 1997: lectured in applied mathematics in the Department of Computational and Applied Mathematics at Wits University; 1997 - 1999: joined Standard Corporate & Merchant Bank as an interest rate derivatives trader; 2000 - 2003: worked for Peregrine Securities as a research/sales trader focused on hedge fund trading strategies; 2003: founded Legae Capital, the first black owned and woman-managed fund of hedge funds in South Africa. Under Fatima, Legae Capital became one of SA's leading hedge fund multi-managers; 2006: awarded the Financial Services Pioneer Award by ABSIP (Association for Black Securities and Investment Professionals), previously given to Tito Mboweni and Vuyani Ngalwana; 2006: voted one of SA's top 20 black fund manager executives by the Financial Mail; In 2006 the portfolio of hedge funds managed by Fatima and her team at the time won the Top performing Fund of Hedge Fund award from Hedge Fund Intelligence. 2007: founded 27four Investment Managers, South Africa's first black owned and women run institutional multi-manager.
