GoMetro has just relaunched/reinvented GoMetro for National Transport Month - we are excited to announce GoMetroApp.com - a Community for Commuters to provide each other with information and crowdsourced updates about transport in South African cities. This Mobile Website is best used by a smartphone - and not your desktop, as it is responsive.

Whereas GoMetro.co.za provides train delay updates and Metrorail schedules, GoMetroApp.com is designed to work with all major modes of public transport in South Africa. Further, it gives a voice to commuters, by encouraging user participation by means of social media posting, “filling” the information gap in transport operations using crowdsourcing. Any user can post an announcement or update about their experience in transport, and thus be a MetroHero to their fellow commuters.

In addition to the mobile apps and site, the core transit info service is accessible to commuters without internet-enabled phones, by means of dialing the USSD string - *120*4668# from any mobile phone - in order to access schedules, announcements and updates. GoMetro on USSD has been nominated for an MEF Best Innovation in a Growth Market award, to be announced in San Francisco in November, 2014.
