"I was thrown lemons, so I made lemonade”

With a film and television background that spans ten years and small business pop-ups, Isabella Mosime comes a long way as an entrepreneur.  Despite various challenges, she always knew that she was going to own something because working for someone was not part of her future. Learning from past employers helped her decide what she wanted to do with her own business. Being a single mom to a three-year-old and sole contributor to her household only worked to fuel her ambition even more.

Virtual Realities is a start-up company incubated at Maxum Digital (MD), which is the third pillar of the Maxum Business Incubation programme at The Innovation Hub, alongside Maxum Smart and Maxum Media Accelerator. Maxum Digital is based in Braamfontein at the Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ) which became operational in 2016 as a newly established Incubator focused on digital innovations in gaming, virtual reality (VR) and animation.

Months later, she amassed 10 clients of her own and being the only black female in the virtual reality space, she runs a tight ship. She not only owns a virtual reality company, she also owns a small Production company called Sig Nuh Cher Media and Productions which handles all things production, and has shares in a company called Fourroom Entertainment that does Digital marketing strategies and she runs the organizational happening for a brand called DVST from the Vaal area.

Her biggest achievement to date is signing an international contract with an agency to create their virtual reality, gaming and experiential campaign for 2017-2018.

"Being a female affords me the instinct to present a different perspective and approach to that of my male counterparts. I love talking to clients and hearing what they want to do with the technology, nothing is impossible in VR" said Mosime .

"I just want to be happy, all this makes me happy to know that it's at my time and my terms."

Virtual Realities is currently recognised as one of the most sought after virtual reality research and development companies in SA and the continent, and soon, the world.
