The Innovation Hub is proud to be hosting the 2019 International Association of Science Parks (IASP) Africa Division Workshop as part of a series of Science and Technology Parks’ build-up events that are taking place globally leading up to the main IASP Conference to be hosted from the 23 – 29 September 2019 in Nantes, France.

We look forward to a robust engagement with practitioners from the continent to consider the economic development capacity of Science and Technology Parks (STPs) and Areas of Innovation (AoIs) in Africa,  as enablers for economic development.
Each forum has been curated to engage matters deemed critical to the role of STPs and AoIs particularly in Africa, namely the policy environment for STP’s; best practice of business incubators; entrepreneurship and economic growth; and the 4th Industrial Revolution in Africa.

Meet our distinguished speakers

IASP Director General

Luis Sanz (Spain, 1952) is Director General of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation since 1996, and member of its Executive Board. A trained sociologist, he is an expert consultant and senior adviser to different Science Parks worldwide and chief co‐ordinator of 35 international conferences on Science and Technology Parks, regional development and innovation policies.He is author of numerous papers, books, articles and presentations on this topic and has participated as invited speaker in over 115 international conferences and seminars all over the world. Formerly he was the co‐director of Valencia Technology Park (Spain) which he founded in 1987 and as positions of trust he has been Vice‐President of the Spanish Association of Science Parks and President of the European Division of the IASP. Luis Sanz is also the head co‐ordinator of the World Alliance for innovation (WAINOVA).
