Prof Shirley Motaung, founder of Global Health Biotech, an entrepreneur incubated at Biopark@Gauteng, and an assistant Dean at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in the Science Faculty has been appointed to serve as a member of the Gauteng Province Department, Corona Virus Disease Committee, a committee under Premier David Makhura .
After successfully leading a team of researchers tasked with assessing the Covid-19 readiness on the Health facilities in the Province, Prof Motaung proves to be an experienced candidate for the committee.
The high-level advisory council will provide expertise on matters pertaining to measures implemented by the provincial government to deal with COVID-19. The committee will be required to use their experience, linkages, resources and will be able to influence to assist the provincial government to overcome obstacles posed by the pandemic. The committee will also be responsible for providing advice and developing a COVID-19 Risk Adjustment strategy for the Gauteng province.
