The South African government has been making major strides in resuscitating the economy more so now as the pandemic has led to an economic crisis. At the launch of The Inaugural Sustainable Development Symposium South Africa (Sidssa) on the 23 June 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the plans to invest R3.1 billion in a new space infrastructure hub.
The Investment is part of the post pandemic government strategy, which will take place over a three-year period will see to more than 4000 direct employment opportunities in the first year alone.
The South African Space Agency (SANSA) a tenant at The Innovation Hub precinct, managers all the government space programmes, recently announced its excitement for the Space Infrastructure Hub project.
The Space hub will allow for the development of Satellite infrastructure, satellite-based augmentation systems, and earth observation satellites.
