Dr Sibongile Gumbi is Founder and CEO of iVac Bio, a start-up company involved in the manufacture of vaccines against livestock diseases that are prevalent in Africa. She has a PhD in Pharmacology obtained from UCT as well as an EMBA and certificate in Managing Technology Enterprises both from IMD, Switzerland. She has held numerous posts in the area of technology and innovation management including Executive, Innovation and Enabling Support and Group Executive, Biotechnology at the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA); and R&D Outcomes Group Manager and Intellectual Property and Commercialisation manager at the CSIR. She has worked abroad consulting for international organisations including MIHR and GALVmed (UK) and the Rockefeller Foundation (USA). Dr Gumbi is best described as an entrepreneur who has a passion for ensuring that South African innovation is effectively commercialised in local and international markets.

Her passion is to harness biotechnology to generate solutions to health challenges in Africa. iVacBio exists to give Africa its best shot.
