The Innovation Hub To Celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week 2018

Tshwane, 05 November 2018– The Innovation Hub- the Innovation Agency of the Gauteng Province to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship week 2018 by hosting sessions and creating platforms that support, connect and promote entrepreneurship from 13 to 22 November.

 

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world's largest celebration of innovations and job creators who launch start -ups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth, and expand human welfare. GEW inspires people everywhere through local, national and global activities designed to help them explore their potential as self-starters and innovators. From 13 to 22 November, The Innovation Hub will join 25 million people across 15 000 networks in 160 countries to celebrate innovators, entrepreneurs and researchers who contribute to the developmental landscape of the world.

 

The Innovation Hub is the provincial governments’ innovation vehicle, through which innovative entrepreneurship is used as an agent for job creation and economic development. In this stead The Innovation Hub has scheduled activities dedicated to creating platforms for collaboration, networking and for honouring players whose work supports and cultivates the innovation ecosystems.

 

The second eKasiLab Summit themed “Innovation for Economic Growth” will be held on the 13th November 2018 at eKasiLab Mamelodi, Tshwane North TVET College Mamelodi Campus, 19403 Serapeng Rd East.  Impact of technology to drive entrepreneur’s business, access to market and importance of funding will be the central subject of the summit and will engage ways in which township-based entrepreneurs and start-ups alike can best exploit technology in their business practices for heightened impact.

On 15 November 2018 The Innovation Hub will host its 8th Gauteng Accelerator Programme Innovation (GAP) Awards. GAP Competitions are specifically designed to target innovators, researchers and entrepreneurs presently working on novel technologies and services intended to accelerate the efficiency of government service delivery; increase the competitiveness of the local economy; and enhance the quality of life of ordinary citizens. The culmination of the Programme will be on the 15th November 2018 where the next generation of global innovators will be announced.  

The Innovation Hub has partnered with Black Umbrella’s to host an event under the theme “Cutting Through the Chaos on the 20th to 22nd November 2018. The event which will be held in collaboration with Absa, Gauteng Enterprise Propeller and NYDA will be the height of an on-going campaign and competition especially curated for entrepreneurs. During the course of the three days entrepreneurs will be exposed to business model canvas presentations, elevator pitch classes, a commercialization master class, development workshops and pitching sessions. A number of select entrepreneurs from all eKasiLabs will also showcase their innovations as part of show and tell to investors on the day.
