The Innovation Hub – the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province under its smart industries programmes – will host another instance of Innov8 themed Cyber Security for Connected things at The Innovation Hub Conference Venue on 26 July  2017.

The Innovation Hub focuses on fostering innovation; enterprise development; skills development as well as providing enabling spaces for emerging knowledge workers, in the smart industries (ICT and advanced manufacturing), bioeconomy (health and agro-processing) and the green economy sectors (water, waste and energy).

The Innovation Hub is strategically focused on the Internet of Things (IoT) in ICT and Industry 4.0 in advanced manufacturing. These strategic focus areas are aligned to powerful industry and market trends that are reshaping the global economy. Apart from their specific impacts on the ICT and manufacturing sectors, IoT and Industry 4.0 overlap in certain areas (e.g., industrial IoT and industrial robotics), and have many cross-cutting impacts on other sectors. Through its smart industries programmes, The Innovation Hub has positioned itself as Gauteng Province’s IoT / Industry 4.0 innovation partner of choice for private sector, public sector and social sector stakeholders.

Once fully realised, IoT will involve the internetworking of billions of disparate objects. This poses considerable cybersecurity challenges, many times greater than is experienced in the Internet today.

Innovators and stakeholders in the ICT sector are invited to another thought-provoking Innov8 session which will engage Cyber security, and its impact on an ever expanding network of interconnected technology and interdependent industry and technology ecosystem.
