THE INNOVATION HUB HOSTS I AM WOMAN IN INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP 2018

The Innovation Hub- the Innovation Agency of the Gauteng Province- hosted three series of events curated for the celebration of women’s month.

The I Am Woman in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, is The innovation Hub’s flagship event specifically curated for the benefit of women in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Innovation Hub realises the provincial priority to include women in its economic landscape, and to create opportunities wherein women are provided with the support to thrive in previously male dominated industries. Therefore, I Am Woman in Innovation and Entrepreneurship events will share strides made by women in the fields of innovation and explore mechanisms through which the ecosystem can better serve women entrepreneurs.

The first of the series commenced on on 17 August 2018 at eKasiLab Mabopane, where like Ms Pholile Mhlanga CEO of Stele Business Solutions; Marang Marekimane, Managing Partner at Lean Business; Ms Nthabiseng Dibakoane, Founder of Kea Thabi; and Thuli Radebe, gave the audience insight into the mechanisms of business development and sustainability, but also the importance of building a company through community. The event was facilitated by one of our leading innovators and multi-award recipient, Prof Shirley Motaung of Global Health Biotech.

On 23 August 2018 at The Innovation Hub Precinct, the I Am Woman in Innovation and Entrepreneurship event,saw leading pioneers in ten priority sectors shed light  on how the advent of innovation has disrupted the concept of ‘business as usual’. This unconference interrogated ways in which innovation can better serve the transformation of South Africa’s economy.

And finally to conclude the month of August, on 25 August The Innovation Hub’s BioPark@Gauteng Business Incubation Programme, in collaboration with the DTI, and Be2tyTable proudly presented the South African #Innovate&InvestInAfrica cosmetics exhibition. The Be2ty Table promotes market access for local manufactured products in the cosmetic industry. The #Innovate&InvestInAfrica exhibition was hosted at The Innovation Hub Conference facilities, where incubated start-ups presented, showcased and sold their products, alongside other cosmetic brands such as CEO of Ms Saloon London industry
