MEDIA ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pretoria, Lynnwood South Africa – 15 July 2025
In honour of Nelson Mandela’s lifelong dedication to education and youth empowerment, The Innovation Hub — the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province and a subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency — in partnership with Geekulcha and the Centre for Public Service Innovation (CPSI), will host a special 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR) training programme for 67 youths from LIV Lanseria Orphanage on 19 July 2025.
The initiative will equip learners with cutting-edge skills in AI Literacy, Robotics, Drone Piloting, 3D Printing, and Coding. This aligns with Mandela’s belief that “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Mr. Bangani Mpangalasane, CEO of The Innovation Hub, stated: “By investing in these young minds, we are not only honouring Madiba’s legacy but also ensuring that South Africa’s future leaders are prepared for the digital economy. This initiative reflects our commitment to inclusive innovation.”
Tiyani Nghonyama, COO of Geekulcha, added: “Our partnership with The Innovation Hub allows us to bridge the digital divide for vulnerable youth as well as to channel them towards a localised digital narrative that empowers mankind. These skills will open doors to careers they may have never imagined.”
Media are invited to attend and interview participants.
