SUCCESFUL PARTICIPANTS TO BE HONOURED AT COACHLAB AND GRADUATE TRAINEE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME GRADUATION

10 October 2019. Skills development will take centre stage when The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province, hosts yet another event aimed at honouring young people as they graduate from the CoachLab® Skills Development Programme, this is another way the organisation is contributing to Skills Development through the reduction of youth unemployment and contributing towards skills development in the Gauteng Province.

The CoachLab® and Graduate Trainee Development Programme Graduation Ceremony will take place on Thursday, 17 October at The Innovation Hub, under the theme “Skills of Tomorrow. Today”.

The CoachLab® Leadership Development Programme was established in 2001 and focuses on preparing graduates for the workplace through entrepreneurship and innovation training in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Engineering sectors. General Manager for Skills Development Mr. Tsietsi Maleho said CoachLab® has pioneered and successfully delivered workplace skills development programmes in the ICT sector for large corporations such as Cisco Technologies, Vodacom, Standard Bank, Hollard and Microsoft. “Since inception, the CoachLab® has had over 500 participants who were all successfully absorbed in the workplace industry,” he said.

During the 2018/19 financial year, the CoachLab programme trained and upskilled 18 Post graduates and also placed 43 interns to host companies through its successful partnerships with various public and private sector companies, namely the State Information Technology Agency, the National Metrology Institute of South Africa, Mbula Research & Development, Information Delivery Systems and The Centre for the Built Environment, Pulego Technologies, Med-TechEngineers, GUD Holdings, Human Science Research Council.

The Innovation Hub CEO, Advocate Pieter Holl says that South Africa has been dealing with challenges of youth unemployment for a long time, our CoachLab Programme through working with our industry partners and academia is one of the programmes that seeks to address these challenges ; some of these youth are graduates that are eager to develop themselves further in order to become professionals and entrepreneurs who can contribute towards the economy of South Africa. “I wish to congratulate all the graduates and I wish them well in their future endeavors,” said Adv. Holl.

The Innovation Hub’s Skills Development Unit run various youth development programmes that are aimed at tackling youth unemployment and addressing the issue of skills shortage.

The media has been invited to cover the graduation which will see 55 graduates share the stage before they embark on their new journeys.
