The Innovation Hub's active partnerships with the business, government, research and education is integral to our success and is part of an ongoing programme to leverage investment, technical capacity, marketing, expertise and information.
The Innovation Hub is full member of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) with access to hundreds of other Science Parks in over 50 countries. International collaborative relationships provides access to training, mentorship and advice from leading knowledge economy role players world-wide.
The Innovation Hub's Maxum Business Incubator is a full member of the National Business Incubator Association (NBIA) in the US with access to a wealth of information on international best practice in business incubation.
A number of our staff have been nominated to or are serving on Boards and Associations where there is synergy our activities.
Our Know-How network consists of knowledge and product partners who are selected service providers that support the efforts of our residents and members of the INNOV8 community through services, discounts and specials. To qualify for any of these, please identify yourself as a member of INNOV8 when booking for events/ordering products.
Our shareholder
The Gauteng Provincial Government, through Blue IQ Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd, provides:
- Funding to establish the core infrastructure and incubation facilities
- Strategic direction, in conjunction with other parties
- Facilitated Government support at local and national levels
- Access to the Gauteng Economic Development Agency (GEDA) and associated venture capital instruments
- Access to donor funds, local sources of development finance and other non-Provincial funding sources.
Our partners
These include:
- The Board of Trustees of two of the GODISA incubators, the eGoliBio Life Science Incubator and the Softstart Technology and Business Incubator
- The Chairman of SABTIA, the South African Business and Technology Incubation Association, which is the umbrella body for incubators in South Africa and encourages collaboration, shared learning and best practice between all types of business incubators in the country
- The adjudication panel for the Technology Top 100 awards
- The National Committee of the Swedish Challenge Award for Invention and Innovation (Innovation for Development in Eastern and Southern Africa [IDESA]) members
- Membership of the Advisory Board of the National Laser Centre.
- The Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, where The Innovation Hub has been recognised as a Special Mayoral Project to support its positioning as a 'smart city' - reinforcing the branding of Gauteng as a 'smart' province.
- The Cape IT Initiative (CITI), a not-for-profit public-private partnership promoting the development of the knowledge economy in the Western Cape
- AfricaBio, with whom we have a strong working relationship, especially in stimulating new biotechnology enterprises and the links between the biotechnology and ICT sectors.
- Biopad, the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Centre in Gauteng, whose mission to stimulate R&D and its commercialisation is aligned to the Hub's mission
- University of Pretoria, as a founder shareholder and now an active stakeholder in the Hub, with whom there are many areas of constructive linkages including to Hub tenants and the Management Company
- Universities and research organisations with whom we create links to provide easy access to our resident companies and stimulate spinout activity. Formal Memoranda of Understanding are in preparation with key institutions.
