Expertron enters Peru with its Cell Power Solution
Cell Power is used to sell virtual commodities over standard cell phones. Virtual commodities are products or services which can be sold as a voucher number which unlocks the value, such as prepaid electricity and prepaid airtime. Cell Power S.A.C., with offices in Lima is one of only two resellers of airtime for Claro Peru S.A.C, one of the GSM networks in Peru. Since the launch in November 2007, over 900 vendors have been appointed. Mr Gustavo J Zapata, Managing Director of Cell Power SAC in Lima-Peru says: "I was always confident that in order to achieve a rapid growth in this market, we had to have a partner with a reliable pre-paid platform. I've got no doubt now that we've selected the right platform provider. If you have a good platform provider and offer a good service, you can feel confident about gaining market share rapidly and continuously in this industry". Mr Farid Pulgar, Cell Power SAC's Financial Director is very confident about the prospects when he mentions that "the total number of pre-paid lines at the end of December 2007 went up to 13,708,241. The growth experienced in the Peruvian market was 83% from December 2006 to December 2007. From this total, Telefonica has 63% of the market, Claro 36% and Nextel 1%". The Cell Power system is also used by the City of Tshwane and the Polokwane Municipalities in South Africa for selling prepaid electricity. In Tshwane the Cell Power system has created 200 new businesses with a combined turnover of over R4 Million Rand per month. Cell Power pilots are running in Rwanda and Gabon. During 2006, Expertron was awarded the Eskom sponsored Prepayment Award, two SPII awards from the South African Department of Trade and Industry and an African ICT Achievers award.
