New entrepreneurial network established
Maxum hosted its first Izazi entrepreneurs' Breakfast Forum on 6 March 2008 in partnership with The People Business Group (TPBG). The session was conducted by Desray Clark, Senior Executive Coach and Business Consultant from TPBG who led a stimulating discussion about looking at the 'big picture' and thinking within the global context. The discussion included a brief comparison of the world's economies, the PESTLE analysis and how it impacts on businesses and industries. The PESTLE analysis represents the political climate, the economy, social climate, legal issues and the environment in which businesses operate. The analysis led to a stimulating, challenging and informative discussion about global issues, our economy, bureaucracy, social aspects and the environment which businesses - particularly small business - engage in. These include issues of labour, crime, load shedding and EU policies. Participants in the Forum had this to say about the event: "Life is not a linear experience. You must be prepared as a business owner or entrepreneur for all environmental eventualities". - Dries "PESTLE analysis - I just knew they existed but didn't realise how they affect my business" - Zelda "Meeting new people and being exposed to new thinking has been extremely valuable" - Alan "Concept of seeing things in a broader context" - Isabelle It would seem that the event did achieve its aim in assisting businesses learn more about strategically growing their business and how to take them from good to great. These breakfasts will take the form of a discussion group of no more than 12 influential business participants from different industries, but facing similar exciting growth phases and challenges. They will encourage high levels of interaction and knowledge sharing amongst delegates and create an ideal forum for networking. TPBG is a well-established and professional Black Economic Empowered (BEE) company specialising in the development and advancement of people in business. They have been in operation since 1988. Focusing purely on people development and whole-heartedly embracing the concept of broad based black economic empowerment, they have consistently maintained standards of excellence and professionalism, in each of their complementary lines of work. Maxum will conduct the breakfast seminars with TPBG monthly until November 2008. Businesses are encouraged to factor the sessions in their diaries as they will delve into issues of leadership, HR, BEE and financials among other things.
