As a young and developing brand The Innovation Hub, Africa's first Science Park, was the topic of an invited presentation at the 2007 Brands Convention. Now in its third year, the Brands Convention has created a platform for active discourse on optimsing brand performance in today's globalised business world. The event is hosted by Topco Media.
Speaking on Co-Branding and Participative Branding opportunities, The Innovation Hub's Marketing, Business Development and Value-added Services Manager, Paul Bisogno, discussed the collaborative nature of a Science Park and how it enables Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises to create and maximise business opportunities - amongst themselves and often with multinationals.
The interactive, collaborative nature of a Science Park environment creates a unique 'clustering focus' where businesses benefit from and offer value to others operating within a similar IP (Intellectual Property) framework.
According to Bisogno, Science Parks bring together a powerful mix of innovative and creative thinkers, as well as cutting edge technological innovations, that offer many opportunities to the business sector. The Innovation Hub brand is growing and, although still in its infancy, is creating a sought after business address amongst the business community in Tshwane. The Innovation Hub already represents 75 individual business brands at its precinct.
The 2007 Brands Convention included presentations by brand experts such as Grant Meldrum, Managing Director: Johannesburg, Saatchi & Saatchi, Noah Greenhill, Marketing Director, JSE and Mishka Moller, National Brand and Marketing Manager, Harley Davidson. Topics covered the latest brand building technology - from blogging and gaming to mobile advertising, optimising ROMI (Return on Marketing
Investment), capitalising on branding partnerships and co-branding and designing the 2010 experience for all visitors to South Africa.
