It is almost a year ago that NewsBits featured the collaboration between Versec Systems and Tactile Technologies, which signalled the entry of Versec into the dynamic security estate market. According to owner Jan Hendrik Otto, the company has experienced significant lateral growth during the last year, enabling them to offer clients a comprehensive security estate service. This is not only good news for Versec, but also the Maxum Business Incubator, from which the company is graduating this month.
Lateral growth can often spell trouble for a company as service standards are compromised in an attempt to increase revenue. There are instances, however, where lateral growth can be advantageous, or even essential, to a company. "Our service offering had to expand to provide the revenue needed for further development. We were fortunate enough to be able to achieve this through a simple consultancy model. In a market where turnkey solutions are in demand we have built a service offering around our core product and capitalised on this expansion", says Otto.
"This growth has also allowed us to focus on product development and we are hoping to launch our Guard Management System and Guard Tracking System by the end of the year."
The Guard Management System provides security companies with a simple management tool that keeps accurate attendance records and incorporates performance checks to ensure that service levels are maintained. The Guard Tracking System incorporates a GPS tracking unit that coordinates guard movements with fixed positions. Where a guard has not checked in at any predetermined point, an emergency signal is immediately sent to the control centre. The system also includes a short message service (sms) alert which can be forwarded to any authorised parties.
"We believe the incorporation of these tools into our servicing offering will give us the edge in a very competitive market", concludes Otto.
The Maxum Business Incubator is not short of success stories and has provided an invaluable platform for many technology-based companies. Versec is not only the latest of these successes but also demonstrates the successful melding of technology and business.
