On Friday 13 July 2007, Maxum CoachLab™ participants - the class of 2007 - attended a Golf Day at the CSIR Lapa in Pretoria. The day's activities consisted of a Braai, sports, music and good food.
Owen Griffith, MTN Project Manager and a number of former CoachLab™ participants, including Mape Modiba, currently a Business Development Manager for EPI-USE and Emil Saayman, a Project Manager for Hewlett Packard South Africa (Pty) Ltd, were amongst the guests sharing in the festivities.
Other attendees included Dr Teddy Setshedi of the Tshwane University of Techology Soshanguve Campus and Morkel Theunissen,of the University of Pretoria's Department of Computer Science. Martin Manmohan, Dr Jill Sawers and Gopolang Setumo - the Operations Manager, Manager and Business Support Coordinator of the Maxum Business Incubator at The Innovation Hub - also joined the festivities.
It was an enjoyable day and included the "mentored mentoring the mentors" when the latter watched, and no doubt learned, as the students engaged in a game of volleyball. CoachLab™ students also had a chance to mingle with their mentors outside the workplace and discuss some work issues and future expectations.
The students had the opportunity to have their "CoachLab™ Golfers of 2007" theme photos taken on the immaculate green lawns at the CSIR. Their well-practised swings and correct posture was a direct reflection of the manner in which they carry out their work in the CoachLab™ programme at The Innovation Hub.
The Braai lasted until the early hours of the evening, leaving students with memories of an enjoyable event and a stronger sense of teamwork.
