Hub's residents gain insight into "bootstrapping" at Kgotla@Hub event
| '"Bootstrapping" can be defined as the act of starting a business with little or no external funding. Bootstrappers don't write lengthy business plans, chase deep-pocketed investors, or indulge in overly academic market research exercises. Instead, they focus all of their considerable energy, brainpower, determination and skills on creating a business that can actually succeed in the real world.' (www.bootstrapit.com).

Speaker – Greg Serandos, CEO of Andromeda presents on the "Art of Bootstapping" to Hub Residents. Hub Residents pay attention to learn how to maximize their companies cash flow and ensure effective marketing of their services. |
Creating a successful business requires hard work, creativity, innovation and, as the residents at The Innovation Hub found out at the recent Kgotla@Hub networking event, managing on a shoe-string budget and engaging in an effective marketing campaign.
Hub residents attended the first Kgotla@Hub event for 2007 - these events are aimed specifically at stimulating innovative thought and introducing Hub residents to new concepts, value-adding information and opportunities to network - benefited from the experience and business skills of one the Hub's old friends, Gregory Serandos, CEO of Andromeda SA. Greg is well-known within the Hub's INNOV8 community for his commitment to "giving back" to entrepreneurs by sharing his considerable knowledge and insight into the business environment both locally and abroad.
Greg has presented to the INNOV8 community on two separate occasions, focusing on "New Models for Globalising Your Business" and "Accessing International Markets". At the recent Kgotla@Hub he presented an insightful overview on "The Art of Bootstrapping", talking about the management of cash flow, identification of target markets, impact of branding, pricing strategies, channel strategies, as well as advertisements and promotions.
In addition to giving residents an understanding of how to optimise their companies' exposure in the market place, six of the event residents where provided with the opportunity to market their services and specialised skills to the rest of the residents. Innovative ideas came to the fore, and attendees, who thoroughly enjoyed the interactive exercise, raised methods and opportunities to expand further on the ideas presented to them.
The Innovation Hub thanks Greg for his time and valuable knowledge, and looks forward to exposing its residents to additional business skills and trends via future Kgota@Hub events.
