Maxum incubatee turns up the frequency on innovation

Bogosi IT Solutions Director, Rob Moloto
In October 2007, the Maxum Business Incubator welcomed another participant in incubation to The Innovation Hub precinct. Bogosi IT Solutions is a young black-owned company, focused on integrating and introducing Radio Frequency (RF) Technology and its extended capabilities in various environments.

Since its official inception in 2005, Bogosi has focused on adapting and delivering optimally integrated Access Control Solutions as well as Asset Management Services. The company's offerings have proven to minimise theft, asset loss, and fleet vehicle administration costs by over 80%.

According to Bogosi's Director, Rob Moloto, the idea for the company was born long before its official registration two years ago. Bogosi was conceptualised by Moloto and a friend who later left the company. The company's other Director, Noxolo Piet, joined the team late last year and is now majority shareholder.

With the help of three international RF Technology development firms and one local creative team for application integration, Bogosi has - in its short history - been successful in the development of a RF Tag that features varying Read/Write principles. The evolution of this Tag has radically reduced information registration efforts. Previously, tags were individually supplied with registration content and required an average of three minutes to write and test a single tag. Bogosi's innovative solution simultaneously writes to multiple tags in just under a minute.

Bogosi is also the first company in Africa to implement of the Dual Auth (DA) process - an immediate solution that allows a company to achieve more out of their conventional Access Card Systems. DA is a double-checking security system that prohibits an individual from leaving a defined location with an asset that does not belong to them. Its application can be extended to in-house moveable assets, such as office equipment, to prevent the equipment from being moved from its designated area unless done so by a registered person. With clients including the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority), the team has clearly set a high benchmark for success.

Despite the impressive accomplishments achieved in such a short space of time, Moloto maintains a characteristically African humility. "Our achievements are minute and the greater ones still await us to take claim of them", he says. He adds that the company is hard at work towards this goal and is busy "multitasking" between medium and major projects, introductions, marketing and demonstrations, pilots and work on new developments.

On joining The Innovation Hub community, Moloto's says that the professional image, networking opportunities and reputable market presence afforded by Bogosi's new address are only some of the many invaluable benefits arising from the move.

The mentoring and 'personal' attention received as part of Maxum has been of foremost importance to Bogosi. "Based upon the support given to a black-owned start-up company entering unfamiliar terrain with creative technology, we've been able to share the explorations of our minds with ease", says Moloto.
