2007 Message from the CEO

CEO of The Innovation Hub,
Dr Neville Comins.

It seems that we are already well entrenched in 2007 - a year that holds much promise, locally and internationally, with regard to rapid developments in the knowledge economy and the Hub playing a pivotal role in many of these processes.

It has also seen the distribution of our 2006 Annual Report, which presents a summary of the activities of the Hub for that financial period as well as highlighting some challenges and achievements.

As a Science Park, the Hub will also be focusing on entrenching the activities of Gauteng's first knowledge intensive cluster at the Hub in attracting local and foreign investment and supporting the development of small, micro and medium enterprises towards operational stability to create the synergies necessary to promote innovation.

As a Science Park, the Hub's focus this year will also be on addressing local structural weaknesses, such as our risk-averse business landscape which results in a lack of easy access to early-stage funding for start-up companies to help them become self-sustainable. We will also involve ourselves in proactive processes to create greater links between SMMEs and the corporate sector through our value-added services such as the INNOV8 community.

We hope that 2007 will be experienced by all our tenants, associated partners and fellow participants as a year of boundary breaking economic growth, innovation and collaboration.
