Celebrating women in the old fashioned way
In celebration of Women's Month in August this year, The Innovation Hub and Europa@Hub - the on site restaurant - treated the ladies on site to a traditional 'tea party'.
The informal but exceptionally 'tasty' affair allowed the ladies, some of whom had not met, to get acquainted in a welcoming, mellow atmosphere. The place was abuzz - this time not so much with boardroom talk and deal making (is the ability to multi-skill not great?) - but with easy laughter and tasty treats - the only one missing, indeed, was Alice!
And topping the bill, wonderful prizes where up for grabs, awarded for - naturally - eloquence and networking skills - the judges and jury consisting of fellow partygoers who made their selection in a snap, on-the-spot survey.
Sponsored by Vasscorp (Pty) Ltd, a tenant in the Maxum Business Incubator, the first prize was a (to die for!) two-week holiday for six people at a destination of choice in South Africa, Mauritius, the Canary Islands or Spain. This went to Tiisetso Khabele of CISCO Systems, while the second prize, a Hub branded leather folder, was awarded to Catherine Fourtier of Active Touch.
Not to be out'done', Eleine Roets from the University of Pretoria's Knowledge Centre - housed in the Innovation Centre - walked away as the 'best dressed lady' at the event.
All told, the ladies - whom all should have received the highest order for 24/7 multi-skilling - had the proverbial 'ball' and especially enjoyed the opportunity to meet their fellow 'Hubbers'. It seems the 'tea party' idea - with or without Alex, um! Alice - is here to stay… the question begs, when next?
