Patent Toolkit sponsors innovation at Vaal University of Technology

Trydian Interactive and Smit & Van Wyk Patent Attorneys, partners in developing the Patent Toolkit and both residents at The Innovation Hub, recently announced their cooperation with the Iscor Innovation Centre at the Vaal University of Technology.

The Iscor Innovation Centre assists staff, students and the University to develop new products and create employment through technopreneurship. Through the Trydian-Smith & Van Wyk sponsorship, staff and students of the Vaal University of Technology can access the Patent Toolkit free of charge at the Iscor Innovation Centre.

"Through this corporate social investment, we hope to create awareness amongst young entrepreneurs of the importance of protecting their inventions, and - most importantly - to give young entrepreneurs the tools to ensure that their inventions are legally protected," says Carel Smit, partner in Smit & Van Wyk Patent Attorneys.

Jan Jooste, Head of the Iscor Innovation Centre, is convinced that the Patent Toolkit will add a lot of value. "The Patent Toolkit is an essential first for South Africa. We need to instil in students the value of safeguarding their future intellectual property."
