For the third year running, The Innovation Hub and Exhibitions for Africa partnered at the Futurex/Equip 2006 Exhibition held in the Sandton Convention Centre in May this year. The focus was on showcasing the activities of the Hub's maxum Business Incubator and giving some of the participants an opportunity to promote their companies, products and services.
Exhibitions for Africa, South Africa's leading business-to-business exhibition organiser - and the driving force behind Computer Faire and Futurex - introduced the Equip concept for the first time this year as a new business equipment retail exhibition for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The focus on SMEs presented maxum with the opportunity to interact with this important target audience, while providing current participants in the Incubator with the opportunity to showcase their products and services to a large audience.
Seven of the companies in the Incubator responded to the invitation to share the stand on a rotational basis to help with promoting themselves and introducing their offerings to the market place.
According to Sarie de Beer of DBIT Management Services, one of the Incubatees that accepted the invitation, the exposure led to the company making "excellent contacts for our business and gave us an opportunity to market our products and services". And Active Touch Managing Director, Catherine Fourtier commented that the "concept of rotating Incubatees at the maxum stand was positive" and that their presence on the stand helped them to identify potential clients.
