Martin Manmohan, Operations Manager of maxum Business Incubator at The Innovation Hub, has been elected as an executive member of SABTIA at its recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Hub's Conference Venue in Pretoria.

The 2nd AGM of the South African Business and Technology Incubation Association (SABTIA), launched in 2004, was attended by an overwhelming majority of representatives from member incubators. This enabled a number of key decisions to be taken, which are aimed at propelling SABTIA to even greater heights.

Amongst a number of key policy amendments was the lifting of the constitutional restriction of SABTIA membership to only South Africa. As of the beginning of April this year, SABTIA membership is open to all individuals, companies and organisations locally, regionally and internationally, engaged in business incubation and SME support activities.

This policy change will significantly broaden participation in SABTIA, specifically from incubators in other parts of Africa that are keen to actively participate in the Association's activities.

Another positive outcome in this regard was the reduction of the Associate Membership Fees to R500 per individual with no voting rights. This will also attract more individuals who've been keen to join SABTIA but found the membership fee too steep.

Overall, the AGM was a success with a new executive committee elected to serve for the next year.
