Linux holds Open Source showcase at the Hub
An Open Source Showcase, held on Saturday 1 April 2006 at The Innovation Hub, was - according to organisers Lunix Holdings - a resounding success. Coordinator Kin le Roux of Linux Holdings, indicated that from feedback from visitors to the showcase it was evident that the event had achieved one of the main goals, namely that of introducing Open Source alternatives for business solutions.
The event offered visitors a full programme of keynote speeches and exhibitions from 12 companies (including Apple and IBM), as well as a number of interactive workshops to take a closer look at Open Source options and its application benefits in a business environment.
The Open Source Showcase also provided the technically inclined to write their LPI (Linux Professional Institute) exam, which took place at the Hub premises. The result of this exam is that an estimated 20 new internationally qualified Linux administrators will be available to the local developing ICT economy.
It seems that everyone who attended the event gained the knowledge they sought, and Linux looks forward to a repeat of the event in 2007.
