Event programme at the Hub adds value and builds networks


Members of The Innovation Hub community have already this year participated in a number of well-attended events and activities at the Hub campus in Pretoria:
  • 16 March - a TRIPLE P SERIES workshop on "Einstein E=mc² The alchemy of life, leadership and management". For more information contact Dr Brenda Hattingh at Power Intelligence or at +27 12 548 3599, cell +27 82 558 8400.

  • 16 March - in association with the Embassy of the Netherlands, members of the Hub community were invited to attend a joint business event of the Telematica Institute and the Meraka Institute. This was aimed at entrepreneurs interested in South African/Dutch business co-operation or expanding their international business to the Dutch market. The central focus was ICT innovation.

  • 15 March - a Forum Event presented in collaboration with the SABS Design Institute, featuring acclaimed international guest speaker, Eric Anderson, Professor of Industrial Design, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA. Eric was a guest adjudicator of the 2006 SABS disa South African Design Excellence Awards. He shared personal notes on the state of industrial design in the USA.

  • 13 March - a workshop on "Framework on Intellectual Property from Publicly-Funded Research", hosted by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) to consult on the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) arising through Publicly Financed Research as the basis for drafting appropriate regulations and/or legislation.

  • 8 March - the 5th Modfin Series seminar on "Basic Labour Law", held exclusively for Hub tenants and INNOV8 community members, courtesy of leading financial services company, Modfin Systems (Pty) Ltd, one of The Innovation Hub's Knowledge Partners. This series provides practical financial advice, support, tips and mentorship to the fast-growing companies that make up the Hub community. View the presentation.

  • 28 February - a SABTIA-hosted Stakeholder Networking Breakfast, which highlighted Gauteng's Local Economic Development Plan, its vision of SME development and the impact that incubators could make. View the presentations: Gauteng's Economic Development Plans | Sedichem - a work in progress.

  • 23 February - a P•O•W•E•R Breakfast focusing on "Internationalising your high-tech business". Representatives from Florida and Illinois in the US talked about how they assist a company with market entry through activities such as trade missions.   • 16 February - a TRIPLE P WORKSHOP on "The DNA of success: Do you have it and how to develop it?"

  • 1 February - the 4th Modfin Series seminar on "Basic Tax Principles". View the presentation.
