The Innovation Hub supports Gauteng Premier's "Senior Management Conference"
As part of a broader drive to reach and inform senior policy-makers and civil servants, The Innovation Hub again participated in the Gauteng Premier's 4th annual Senior Management Conference, held in Sandton recently. The event was hosted under the auspices of the Gauteng Management Development Programme (GDMP).
Featuring speakers such as Prof Nick Binedell of the Gordon Institute Business Science, Patrick Fitzgerald of the Wits Business School, and Roy Marcus and Audrey Verhaeghe of Da Vinci Research, a key theme of the conference was innovation in improved service delivery.
Issues discussed in the presentations included using innovation to facilitate a "services revolution", managing knowledge and innovation, and key features of service innovation.
Building on the presentation by the CEO of The Innovation Hub, Dr Neville Comins, at the 2005 event, the Hub supported this year's event with a full information stand and display aimed at informing participants about relevant innovation issues in the knowledge-economy. This attracted senior-level interest from attendees while the GPG MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs, Paul Mashatile, in his keynote address specifically mentioned the important role being played by the Hub in the high-tech economy of Gauteng.
