Hub welcomes new recruit
Annie Lopes joined The Innovation Hub Management Company (Pty) Ltd as its "public face" early in March this year. She is located in the reception area in the Innovation Centre and will be looking after visitors and coordinating the activities of the Hub's conference facility.
While born and bred in South Africa, Annie is of Angolan and Portuguese descent, which has led to her fluency in English, Afrikaans and Portuguese.
Prior to joining The Innovation Hub, Annie worked for the Law Society of South Africa's Legal Education and Development (LEAD) Division as a seminar coordinator. She was responsible for the national coordination of seminars aimed at updating practicing attorneys on changes in legislation.
She holds a Secretarial Diploma and has done numerous short courses in mentorship, project management, innovation and creativity, marketing and presentation techniques. She is currently studying towards a degree in Communication.
Annie's interest in communication was sparked by a number of achievements, specifically those in her final year at high school. Amongst others, she won a Shakespearean Dialogue and Soliloquy Competition hosted by the Potchefstroom University and was placed second in the Regional Inter-High Public Speaking Competition.
According to Annie, she is grateful for being offered the position at the Hub. "I take great pride in knowing that I can play a small role in the significant contribution which The Innovation Hub will be making to the South African economy."
In her free time Annie enjoys shopping, entertaining friends at home and travelling.
