2005 - a new year, heralding a time for new beginnings, the launch of new initiatives, the start of something great! For The Innovation Hub it has heralded a "homecoming" in the truest sense, having taken occupation of its new site, where the doors opened for business early in January this year.
The end of 2004, with year-end festivities days away, saw The Innovation Hub Management Company team amidst crates, boxes and packaging material as D-Day for the Big Move - 12 December 2004 - approached. It was literally a case of "all hands on deck" as serious packing got underway on the one side and unpacking on the other side. The result of the "ordered disorder" has been that normal operations could resume with immediate effect when the team returned to office straight after the end-of-year break.
January has seen the occupation of the multi-tenant Enterprise Building by four tenants. Ultimate Sports Nutrition (USN), the first tenant to move in, was closely followed by GiftWrap, both companies new tenants at the Hub. Recently the Naledi3d Factory and the Expertron Group, both graduates from the maxum Business Incubator, also took occupation of their office space. Three further tenants have already signed up and will be moving in over the next weeks.
The Incubator itself, with three companies currently participating in the incubation programme, joined the Management Company in the Innovation Centre towards the end of January. Also housed at the Innovation Centre are the facilities for the CoachLabâ„¢, the canteen/bistro, as well as auditoria, meeting rooms, exhibition space and conference facilities.
As soon as the final fit-out and finishes to these facilities have been completed, the Hub's events programme will kick in - watch this space! And remember, if you are planning a visit - whether for business or just to look around and share our excitement and pride - make use of The Innovation Hub Bridge across the N1 freeway (corner Meiring Naude Rd and Hotel Street, directly opposite the entrance to the CSIR).
To our stakeholders, contractors, friends and interested parties, we convey heartfelt and immeasurable appreciation for the support and concerted effort that has enabled us to start our new business year "at home". We wish you and yours an innovative, generous and rewarding 2005 - or as the current saying goes: the very best for two thousand and thrive!
