New CEO taking up the reins at Blue IQ

Nomhle Canca, former CEO of Canca Financial Services and co-founder and Executive Director of Women Investment Portfolio Holdings (Wiphold) and the Women's Development Bank, was appointed CEO of Blue IQ Investment Holdings on September 1. Canca has been running Canca Financial Services, an advisory consultancy in the financial services industry, since leaving Wiphold in March 2002.
Blue IQ is a programme of the Department of Finance and Economic Affairs to provide strategic economic infrastructure that will help change the trajectory of the Gauteng Provincial economy in line with global economic developments. One of the key sectors that Blue IQ has identified to generate stronger sustainable economic growth in line with these trends is that of 'the smart industries'.
Canca was educated in the US and qualified as a stockbroker on the New York Stock Exchange and as an investment adviser in the state of Georgia. Her work experience includes spells with Merrill Lynch in the US and Anglo American and Capital Alliance (as portfolio manager) in Johannesburg. Since 1996, she has sat on the Katz commission on taxation.
The Innovation Hub hosted Canca and other members of the Blue IQ team at an introductory meeting on Friday 8 October as part of her series of visits to all the Blue IQ initiatives. Dr Neville Comins, CEO of The Innovation Hub presented the background, rationale, status and progress of The Innovation Hub to the visitors, followed by a visit to the news site.
