Graduating from the incubation programme at The Innovation Hub is an occasion of note. To graduate to Associate tenant status, a company must have markedly increased their product development and customer base to be self-sustainable.

July 2004 saw the graduation of Spline Technologies (Pty) Ltd to Associate tenant status, taking up residence in temporary multi-tenant facilities at The Innovation Hub to move with it to its new site in 2005.

Spline Technologies was one of the first companies to join the Business Incubator in November 2000. During its residence in the Incubator, the company developed and perfected a full range of multi-mode video and data converters required for the transmission of video and data signals over optical fibre.

Highlights in business growth have included a contract to supply equipment of R300k to a single customer, and customer feedback that the Spline product installed at their premises had passed stringent field tests (more on this in previous NewsBits article).

"The development of high-tech products is a stimulating and rewarding venture, on par with experiencing business growth", says Spline MD Johann Weidemann. "We are appreciative of the mentoring and guidance received from the team at The Innovation Hub, which has helped to bring us to this point of venturing out on our own".
