Latest update on building construction at The Innovation Hub

The installation of bulk services on the site has been completed and construction for the widening of the N4 bridge and the new bridge across the N1 in the vicinity of the site is in progress. Road works have been delayed by additional services required for the sub-division of land parcels and will commence in May.

The Environmental Impact Assessment for The Innovation Hub Drive has been completed and the road closure and expropriation were advertised during April.

The Concor-Trencon Joint Venture is constructing basement columns and ground floor slab R80 million 4 500 m2 Innovation Centre and 8 500 m2 Enterprise Building. The on-site concrete batching plant has been successfully commissioned and sub-contract tenders for the lifts, and electrical and plumbing services have been issued. The construction on the Sappi building is running to schedule and is due for completion by December this year.

General landscaping maintenance activities and the procurement of plants are underway, being undertaken by Eksklusiewe Tuine, while Electro Electrical will commence with the installation of cables in May.

Security of the site has been boosted by the appointment of Thorburn Security Solutions and a web-cam is being installed to provide on-line coverage of construction activities. Photographs, architectural renderings of the exterior and interior views of the buildings and updates on the construction process are available on our website.

The anchor buildings will also have a state-of-the-art air-conditioning system and a flexible power and data cabling network, and will provide access to video conferencing facilities. In addition tenants will have access to a knowledge centre and restaurant, basement parking, as well as "hot offices" for management consultants. The business incubator and the CoachLab facility and will provide A-grade space at affordable rentals to a variety of tenants, including flexible tenant fit-out,
