Showcasing Africa's first globally benchmarked Science Park
The Innovation Hub and Tshwane Metro partnered to showcase Africa's first internationally accredited Science Park at SAITEX 2004 in October this year - the only multi-sector trade fair of its size and kind on the continent.
The South African International Trade Exhibition, SAITEX, is the longest-standing international trade platform in southern Africa, annually playing host to hundreds of exhibitors showcasing products, services and opportunities from all over the world.
As the first internationally benchmarked Science Park in Africa, The Innovation Hub is creating an environment where international businesses can access a regional centre of knowledge creation. It will also provide a gateway for local businesses to successfully launch into the fast moving world of global interconnectivity.
The Hub's location in Gauteng, the economic heartland of South Africa that generates 38% of the country's economic activity, will assist in achieving our aim of stimulating growth and economic well-being and managing the flow of knowledge and technology amongst universities, R&D institutions, companies and markets, as well as facilitating the creation and growth of innovation-based companies through incubation and spin-off processes.
By partnering with Tshwane at SAITEX 2004, The Innovation Hub was able to fully showcase its core value proposition of providing prospective tenants with "a smart space in a smart place", in addition to an associated array of value adding service offerings for players in the high-tech and knowledge-intensive economy.
The interest that was generated in the Hub through this joint initiative was immense, and has already led to several tenancy enquiries as well as increased membership of our INNOV8 community - the Hub's independent high-tech and knowledge-intensive community network.
