First phase of development enters home stretch
Entering the home stretch of the first phase of The Innovation Hub's infrastructure development, the excitement of the final lap is almost palpable and is certainly having an invigorating effect on the construction crews involved, according to Arup project manager Martin Schindler.

The only challenge that remains in completing the surfacing of the roads for phases 1, 2 and 3 is ensuring that this activity around The Innovation Hub's core buildings and the Sappi building does not restrict access for the building contractors as they fast-track activities in the run up to the December shutdown.
Traffic flow in the vicinity of the Meiring Naudé/Cussonia Rd bridge across the N4 freeway will normalise with completion of these road works by late November, while the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality (CTMM) has approved the construction of the phase 1 solution for The Innovation Hub Drive, as well as its phase 2 design. This road links Meiring Naudé Rd to the new bridge across the N1 freeway, which gives direct access to the Hub site.
Finishing trades in the Innovation Centre and Enterprise Building are under way and most of the building façade is closed up, with the installation of services progressing well. The bulk of this work will be completed by the middle of December with The Innovation Hub Management Company taking occupation of the Innovation Centre at that time.
