Construction update at the Hub site

Construction activities of the first phase of The Innovation Hub are progressing well.

The site consists of 31 ha of developable land with a total gross floor area of 121 000 m2. The envisaged completion of the first phase, comprising an Innovation Centre and multi-tenant Enterprise Centre, is towards the end of 2004.

Construction activities since the sod-turning event on 13 October this year, include:

  • The bulk earthworks for the Innovation Centre have been completed
  • The bulk earthworks for the internal roads are in progress
  • The main contracts for the Innovation Centre and bulk electrical supply will be awarded before the year-end break this year
  • The main contract for the bridges, including a new N1 bridge and an upgrade of N4 bridge, will also be awarded before the end of this year
  • The fencing around the site is nearing completion
  • The temporary access road from Kings Highway is completed.
