British company joins the Hub
A UK-based company, eSay Solutions Ltd, recently joined The Innovation Hub as an associate company. Its key strategic aim is to have a global presence, operating both from offices in the UK and South Africa.

Science Parks world conference spotlights innovation
Dr Neville Comins, CEO of The Innovation Hub, attended the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) 20th World Conference in Lisbon, Portugal in June this year. Hosted by the Taguspark Science and Technology Park located in Oeiras in Portugal, the 575 delegates benefited from a remarkably successful event with excellent speakers and many shared learning experiences.

Groundbreaking study for UNESCO
The Naledi 3D Factory, a participant in the Hub's business incubator, recently completed a study for UNESCO on evaluating the comparative advantages of applying multimedia and interactive 3D tools, such as virtual reality, to the learning environment.

Building bridges between people and information
The annual South African Telecommunications Networks and Applications [SATNAC] 2003 Conference hosted by Telkom will be held in Southern Cape in September 2003. SATNAC is a premier event for the ICT industry, academics and operators to discuss matters concerning progress achieved in applied research in this sector over the past year.
Innovation tool for entrepreneurs
The Big Idea is a series of conferences being held around the country focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship. The conferences cover various topics ranging from creativity to practical business skills. The purpose of the Big Idea 2003 is to create an innovation tool that encourages South Africans to become entrepreneurs and provides practical and useful information/resources that will inspire innovation in South Africans.
Blue IQ projects update
The Innovation Hub is one 11 major Blue IQ projects. Blue IQ is the economic infrastructure development programme of the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) that is investing an initial R3,5 billion in creating or upgrading strategic economic infrastructure to kick-start these projects, driven by Public Private Partnerships.
