The power of networking
On Tuesday, May 20, members of the Hub's "INNOV8" community participated in the first ever "standing room only" "P•O•W•E•R Breakfast".
"INNOV8" is an informal electronic forum for communication between the growing circle of Friends, Supporters and Participants that make up the extended 'family' of The Innovation Hub.
The first "P•O•W•E•R Breakfast" featured international guest speaker, Graham Ross-Russell, Chairman of UK Business Incubation, who shared some fascinating insights gained from a lifetime of practical experience working with start-up and small companies. Much of the learning that Graham shared has particular relevance in the local environment, and will contribute to enhanced and focussed support for our own technology companies of the future.
The "P•O•W•E•R Breakfast" events programme is a series of working breakfasts aimed specifically at the local knowledge-intensive community who operate at the edge of technological progress. As such, the programme is intended to bring together a smallish group in an interactive setting to facilitate the exchange of information, to identify the most promising emerging ideas and technologies, to strengthen the links between business and funding opportunities, to assist companies with appropriate training and other technical assistance, and to support the learning opportunities that come from dissimilar partnerships.
Exchanging ideas at the POWER Breakfast are from ltr André Hattingh from F'SATIE, the French South African Institute of Electronics, Paul Abrahams from the eGoli Bio-Life Sciences Incubator and Graham Ross Russell from UKBI, a Business Incubation Network in the UK. |
According to immediate feedback from participants, the "P•O•W•E•R Breakfast" is a vehicle that adds considerable value to the community.
