Showcasing bright young minds
Jill Sawers, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Development Manager at The Innovation Hub recently addressed a group of the "Brightest Young Minds" in Stellenbosch about opportunities that The Innovation Hub creates for entrepreneurs. Approximately 20 students attended the presentation.
Brightest Young Minds is a voluntary association of students with a vision "to create a platform that showcases the potential of the Brightest Young Minds and fast tracks their development for the benefit of South Africa". The association endeavours to achieve this by exposing students to business leaders and top companies, and placing them in an environment that is conducive to idea generation and the facilitation of initiatives.
The 2002 corporate sponsors of Brightest Young Minds are Sanlam, BHP Billiton and Microsoft. An affiliates programme is currently being supported by Sappi, The Jupiter Drawing Room, The X-Pert Group, Shoprite, Venfin, MasterCurrency and Proudly South African.
BYM hosts an annual conference to publicise the initiative and expose the brightest young minds to their corporate partners. Numerous follow-up contact sessions are held between small groups of delegates and representatives from organisations that support BYM.
