ElectroSoft changes its name to Des-Pro
New market opportunities often create the demand for a new identity. This recently became true for ElectroSoft, one of the early stage companies in the pilot Incubator at The Innovation Hub.
Electrosoft scooped one of eleven SABS Design Institute Prototype Awards, announced at the end of August this year, for their totally wireless GSM phone shop with built-in remote SMS management that can operate on solar power due to its energy-efficient design (NewsBits August 2002).

Recently a South African design projects company, Des-Pro, offered the employees of ElectroSoft an alternative, highly lucrative market opportunity that involves a niche in the industrial and mining industries.
"This is a really exciting development and a great opportunity for all of us," said Electrosoft Managing Director Dr Johan Holm. "As a result, we will not longer conduct business as ElectroSoft and our activities now form part of Des-Pro."
Holm joins the Potchefstroom head office of Des-Pro to manage overall product development, while other former Electrosoft employees Jaco Steenkamp and Zodwa Mahlangu have established the Pretoria branch of Des-Pro in premises on the CSIR campus, to manage the configuration of new products and the production of highly specialised industrial communications modules. Over time, the intention is to expand the Pretoria branch as the Des-Pro marketing efforts produce more sales and larger production volumes.
