World’s only motorised prosthetic knee

Icexpress Progressive Prosthetics recently launched the world’s first and only motor-powered knee at The Innovation Hub in Pretoria. They announced, that two clients; paralympic athletes Kim Robinson and Derik Schutte, are the first in South Africa to be fitted with the Őssur POWER KNEE.

The motorised knee is a “smart” prosthetic limb with the ability to “recognise and memorise” its user’s walking style while making real time adjustments based on changes in speed, terrain or stride.

One of The Innovation Hub’s occupants, Techsolutions, has developed a technology solution that assists Park Village Auctioneers with the tracking thousands of repossesed vehicles across the country.

Park Village Auctioneers (PVA) is the largest auction house of repossessed vehicles in South Africa. At any time PVA manages between 3,000 and 6,000 vehicles at 10 different locations.

This strategically located facility will draw upon South Africa’s high bandwidth environment and pool of expertise with strong connections to the rest of Africa.

mlab In an effort to encourage mobile innovations that will boost job-led growth and tackle economic and social needs, mLab Southern Africa, a regional lab for mobile technology entrepreneurs, application developers and innovators, opened its doors in Pretoria yesterday.

The facility was inaugurated by business and government leaders with the participation of around 150 stakeholders eager to make use of it.

The hub will draw on SA's high bandwidth environment and talented pool of expertise with strong connections to the rest of Africa.
