About the Core77 Design Competition
Recognizing excellence in all areas of design enterprise, the Core77 Design Awards celebrated the richness of the design profession and the brilliance of its practitioners. The competition focused on 17 categories of entries. Being held for the second year, the competition provided designers, researchers and writers with a unique opportunity to communicate the intent, rigor and passion behind their efforts. From client work to self-initiated projects, entrepreneurial to pro-bono engagements, both the Professional and Student Winners of each category have received the C77DA trophy, and all honorees are published in the Awards Gallery, on Core77 and in the awards publication.
In addition to the usual categories—product, furniture, equipment, etc.—they have honored several newer forms of design practice: Service, Social Impact, Educational Initiatives, DIY, and now in 2012, Food and Writing.
